Paul Menard, Richard Childress Racing Renew Contract for 2016

On the eve of what may be their first Chase appearance with Paul Menard, Richard Childress Racing announced that they will be bringing the Wisconsin native back for a sixth season in 2016, with family sponsor Menard’s returning to sponsor the No. 27 ride.

According to an article on Motorsport.com, RCR and Menard have a year-to-year relationship rather than a traditional three-year contract, and with both parties achieving success this season, it was only a matter of time before they announced another year of partnership.

Menard has one career Sprint Cup victory, scoring the win at Indianapolis in 2011 during his first season with RCR. While he has yet to win at the elite level since, he has steadily improved over the years, and is set to make his first career Chase following this weekend’s race at Richmond International Raceway.

He sits 14th going in, with two top fives and four top 10s.

“It’s always good to have them back,” team owner Richard Childress told Motorsport.com. “Paul’s a good racecar driver. They’re good people to work with and we like promoting their business.”

Menard also races part time for RCR in the Xfinity Series. Earlier this season, he won a race at his hometown track, Road America, driving the No. 33 entry.
