The uniqueness of road-course racing allows for race fans to see several different driver and team combinations during the course of a weekend. Some teams elect to hire drivers with extensive road-course racing backgrounds to help their chances at a better finish. This weekend’s NASCAR Xfinity Series race will be no different.
Veteran road-course racer Kevin O’Connell will drive in the Zippo 200 NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Watkins Glen International on Saturday. O’Connell will drive in the No. 13 Dodge in a joint venture between Motorsports Business Management and Rick Ware Racing. O’Connell was originally on the entry list driving Ware’s No. 15 car.
It’s the first of three road-course races O’Connell will race in the 2015 season.
O’Connell has made six NASCAR Xfinity Series starts in his career and opened eyes in 2014 with an impressive third-place finish at Road America.
The No. 13 team currently sits 35th in the NASCAR Xfinity Series owner points standings.
