CJ Faison to Run Dover Truck Series Race with Premium Motorsports

After a two-year hiatus from NASCAR competition, CJ Faison is set to strap back into the seat of a truck.

On Friday afternoon, Faison announced via YouTube that he will be returning to the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series at Dover International Speedway on May 29 for the Lucas Oil 200.

Running for Premium Motorsports, he will pilot the No. 94 Chevrolet, which has been driven by Travis Kvapil and Wendell Chavous this season.

“This opportunity is very humbling and I’m very appreciative of it,” Faison said in the video. “I think we can make a great showing. My crew chief, John Monsam, worked close with me on a couple of other projects.”

After Kvapil started the season-opener at Daytona, Chavous was scheduled to run the remainder of the season with the Jay Robinson-owned organization. However, he did not qualify for the race at Martinsville.

Faison has two prior starts in the Truck Series, with his debut coming at Dover in 2013. In 18 K&N Pro Series East starts, he has one top five and three top 10s for his family-owned team. He led 77 laps at Dover in the 2013 edition of the 150-mile race, but finished 24th after a wreck on Lap 137.

Additional races for the Delaware native have not been announced at this time.
