Johanna Long is back in an Xfinity Series car. Affarano Motorsports announced on Sunday that the driver, who hasn’t raced in the Xfinity Series since 2013, would race the No. 03 Chevrolet Camaro in this weekend’s ToyotaCare 250 at the Richmond International Raceway.
This will be Long’s first race with the team, although she has been associated with Affarano Motorsports since January. The team attempted to run at Daytona, but were unable to find sponsorship for the car and didn’t race.
“I can’t wait to get back to the track,” Long said. “Everyone at Affarano Motorsports has worked so hard to get the cars ready.”
Team owner Mike Affarano is excited to see his driver on the track, one of her best. The team is currently seeking sponsorship for the car, which Affarano said will be hot pink.
“When I first approached Johanna about driving for us, we sat down and discussed what tracks we felt she could best perform at, and Richmond was one of the ones at the top of the list,” he said in a release. “I am confident Johanna will be competitive. She has a very loyal and supportive fanbase that is anxious to see her back in the series.”
Long has four career starts at Richmond, with an average finish of 21.5 and a best finish of 15th.
