The Sprint Cup Series took to Texas Motor Speedway for the first of two practices today. The 90-minute session saw Martin Truex Jr. top the leaderboard with his first lap and hold on as one of only two drivers to break the 190-mph mark with a 191.096-mph lap. Kasey Kahne came in second with a 190.463-mph lap. Kevin Harvick, Casey Mears and David Ragan rounded out the top five.
Jamie McMurray came in sixth quickest, followed by Carl Edwards. Austin Dillon, Kurt Busch and Brad Keselowski rounded out the top 10. Defending race winner Joey Logano was 17th quickest at 187.565 mph. Drivers will hit the track this afternoon for the final practice session from 1 – 2:20 p.m. local time.
