Rusty Wallace Inc. has announced that 55-time NASCAR Sprint Cup Series winner Rusty Wallace will drive in the Off-Road Truck Racing event at X-Games Austin.
“I may be retired from driving but that doesn’t mean I don’t have the itch to get back behind the wheel,” Wallace said. “I love to compete, plus the X-Games are such a big deal. During my time with ESPN, I watched the X-Games and enjoyed them a lot. Some of the world’s best athletes are there. So when the opportunity came to be a part of the event, there was no way I was going to say no.”
Wallace retired from Sprint Cup Series competition after the 2005 season, winning 55 races and the 1989 NASCAR Cup championship.
He was inducted into the NASCAR Hall of Fame in 2013.
The Off-Road Trucks event at X-Games Austin will be held on June 7. The event will feature live television coverage by ABC and the WatchESPN app beginning at 12:30 p.m. ET.
