NASCAR Issues Penalties for Auto Club Infractions

The No. 33 Circle Sport Sprint Cup team and crew members from the No. 8 Xfinity Series team have been penalized for infractions taking place during this past weekend’s events at Auto Club Speedway.

According to NASCAR, the No. 33 Chevrolet SS driven by Brian Scott in the Sprint Cup Series was found to have had an illegal truck arm during opening inspection. NASCAR confiscated the part and took it back to the sanctioning body’s R&D center in Charlotte.

On Wednesday, NASCAR announced a P4 penalty against the team. Crew chief Slugger Labbe was fined $50,000 and is suspended for the next three Sprint Cup Series races. He has also been placed on probation through December 31st. Team owner Joe Falk has been docked 25 championship owner points.

Scott ran in the top 15 for a significant portion of the race and ultimately finished 27th.

NASCAR also announced behavioral penalties for five team members of the No. 8 TriStar Toyota driven by Blake Koch in the Xfinity Series. According to NASCAR, the five members disobeyed a directive from track security during the pre-race portion of last Saturday’s NXS event.

Crew member Mark Armstrong was fined $1,500 and suspended until April 21st. Crew members Tyler Bullard, Nathaniel House, Jeremy Howard and Ryan Mulder have been placed on probation until December 31st.

Koch finished 19th in the race.
