Fan voting opened as of Thursday, February 5 for the K&N Horsepower Challenge, a special bonus event for the NHRA Pro Stock Class. The all-star event will take place on Saturday, April 11, during the SummitRacing.com NHRA Nationals weekend at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
Drivers qualify by accumulating points from qualifying points. The tally started with the 2014 SummitRacing.com NHRA Nationals in Las Vegas and runs through the Amalie Motor Oil NHRA Gatornationals in March. The top seven drivers will earn a spot based on those points, but the eighth and final spot will be determined by fan vote.
Drivers will then square off in a three round shootout in Las Vegas, with the winner earning a $50,000 grand prize. The runner up receives $10,000.
Drivers who have already clinched a spot include Allen Johnson, Erica Enders-Stevens, who is the defending K&N Horsepower Challenge champion, Jason Line and Shane Gray. See http://www.nhra.com/points/kn-horsepower.aspx for the current standings.
