Junior Johnson Honorary Pace Car Driver at Martinsville

Martinsville Speedway announced on Thursday that Junior Johnson will once again be directly involved in the race festivities. The two-time winner at the paperclip will serve as honorary pace car driver for Sunday’s Goody’s Headache Relief Shot 500.

“Junior Johnson is one of the true legends of our sport and we are thrilled to get him back out front here at Martinsville again,” said Martinsville Speedway president Clay Campbell. “He helped make this sport what it is today and this hall-of-famer is still a most recognizable figure to our fans.”

The hall of famer’s career featured 50 victories and 121 top 5s before he stepped aside and starting working as a car owner. The weekend festivities begin Friday with the Virginia Lottery Pole Day.
