Kurt Busch set a track record last night in qualifying, and backed that up with the fastest speed in the first of two practice sessions today for the Sprint Cup Series. Because of timing of the first practice session and a switch from qualifying to race trim, speeds were expected to be considerably slower than Thursday night. For a majority of the drivers, their first lap on the track Friday was their fastest.
Chase drivers were sprinkled throughout the speed chart with Joey Logano (P2) fastest and Kyle Busch (P29) slowest. Kyle make his first practice laps with only 5 minutes left in the session, looking to focus more on the second session to make adjustments.
