Regan Smith Will Return to JR Motorsports In 2015

JR Motorsports co-owner Dale Earnhardt, Jr. is not necessarily the most formal car owner on earth. On Wednesday, Earnhardt Jr. chose to forego an official press release and announced on Twitter that Regan Smith has reached an agreement with the Nationwide organization to return to the No. 7 Chevrolet for the 2015 XFINITY Series season.

Smith is very happy to be back in the No. 7 full-time for the third consecutive year.

“Can’t wait!,” Smith tweeted after the deal was signed. “Looking forward to 2015, and a strong finish to 2014!”

Smith is currently second in Nationwide Series points with one victory (the season-opening DRIVE4COPD 300 at Daytona in February), seven top-5 and a series-high 24 top-10 finishes. Smith has four career Nationwide Series victories in JR Motorsports equipment, dating back to the end of 2012.
