Chris Buescher, Ty Dillon Lead Nationwide Practices at Richmond

Chris Buescher and Ty Dillon paced the field as the Nationwide Series hit the track at Richmond International Raceway Thursday afternoon.

The series returned to the track as preparations began for Friday night’s Virginia 529 College Savings 250.

Buescher led a trio of Nationwide rookies at the the top of the board, piloting his No. 60 Ford Mustang around the lightning quick .75-mile oval with a speed of 120.011 mph. Dillon was second at 119.846 mph and series points leader Chase Elliott was third at a speed of 119.798 mph. Jeff Green and Landon Cassill rounded out the top 5.

Dillon ended up pacing the field in happy hour at a speed of 118.603 mph. Four-time Richmond Nationwide Series winner Kyle Busch was 2nd, followed by Cale Conley, Elliott and Brian Scott.

Final practice was cut short by around 20 minutes after a torrential downpour and lightning came through the speedway area.

Green flag for the Virginia 529 College Savings 250 is scheduled for 7:43 p.m. ET, with a broadcast on ESPN 2.
