A never-before-seen interview with late NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver Tim Richmond will be aired on FOX Sports 1 during NASCAR Race Hub on this Wednesday night (Aug. 13) at 5 p.m. ET.
The interview, dubbed “At a Crossroads: The Lost Tim Richmond Interview,” is from January 1987, and features famed broadcaster Ken Squier in a one-on-one with Richmond from the driver’s home in Ohio shortly after Richmond announced that he would miss the 1987 Daytona 500 due to his health, FOX Sports noted in a release.
Richmond drove in what was then the Winston Cup Series for Hendrick otorsports from 1980 to 1987 and accumulated 13 victories and 14 pole awards.
He died in 1989, one of the first professional athletes to pass away from HIV/AIDS.
The airing of the interview will mark the 25th anniversary of Richmond’s death.
