After finishing 15th earlier this year at Road America, Tri-Star Motorsports announced on Monday that Carlos Contreras is back behind the wheel of the No. 44 38 Special/Ingersoll Rand/Voli Camry at Watkins Glen this weekend and Mid-Ohio Motorsports Park.
“I am excited to be back in the Ingersoll Rand No. 44 Camry for these two, back to back, road course races,” Contreras said. “I feel we left a lot on the table at Road America due to contact on the final lap, so I am eager to get back at it with the crew and have a nice finish for them and our sponsors; 38 Special, Ingersoll Rand, Voli Vodka and Global Aircraft Solutions.”
It will mark Contreras’ 96th career NASCAR National Series start and his third start at the 3.4 mile road course. His previous two starts have resulted in an average finishing position of 32nd, but he did finish eighth in a NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race at the road course in 2000.
