Kevin Harvick Holds Off Brad Keselowski for 5th Nationwide Win at Richmond

RICHMOND, Va. – Kevin Harvick dominated Friday night’s (Sept. 10) Virginia 529 College Savings 250 at Richmond International Raceway, but had to deal with lapped traffic and a hard-charging Brad Keselowski to score the win.

Leading four times for a total of 170 laps, Harvick appeared to have the race under control until a gaggle of lapped cars put Keselowski right on his back bumper. Coming to the white flag, Harvick slipped off turn 2 and nearly caught the wall as Keselowski dove to the bottom making a move into turn 3. Realizing the move was not going to work, Keselowski locked up the brakes and Harvick drove away for the win.

The victory was Harvick’s third of the year and fifth at RIR, tying Mark Martin for the most in the Nationwide Series.

Trevor Bayne brought the No. 99 Toyota home in the third spot, followed by rookie Ricky Stenhouse Jr. and Reed Sorenson.
