RIDGEWAY, Va. – After steady rain at the Martinsville Speedway, NASCAR has postponed the running of the Goody’s Pain Relief 500 to Monday afternoon (March 29). The rain-delayed race will be run at noon ET and will be broadcast live on FOX.
The forecast was bleak, but track officials attempted to squeeze the race in. Driver introductions were done, the invocation given and the National Anthem sung, but the rains came and the cars never left pit road.
This is the first time since the fall of 2001 that a Martinsville Sprint Cup race has been postponed. The last time a Cup race was pushed back to Monday was last August at Watkins Glen.
Once the cars roll off, Kevin Harvick and Matt Kenseth will lead them to the green flag. The field was set by points after rain canceled qualifying on Friday. Be sure to check back to Frontstretch to follow along with all the action from Martinsville Speedway with our Live Blog.
