Jason White scored his first career pole Thursday night (Feb. 11) and will lead the Camping World Truck Series field to the green for tonight’s NextEra Energy 250. White’s speed of 177.525 mph bested Spring Cup Series regular Elliott Sadler by 0.15 seconds.
Raybestos Rookie of the Year candidate Austin Dillon qualified third. Dillon, grandson of Richard Childress, will pilot the No. 3 Bass Pro Shops Chevrolet full time this season. Ricky Carmichael picked up the fourth spot in his No. 4 Monster Energy Chevrolet. Defending series champion Ron Hornaday Jr., who was forced to qualify on time due to an internal points swap, rounds out the top five.
Tayler Malsam starts sixth in his brand new Kyle Busch Motorsports No. 56 Toyota, but his team owner wasn’t so lucky and will start 16th. Also of note, 2008 champion Johnny Benson qualified ninth and Landon Cassill qualified 23rd for his Truck Series debut.
In what was a healthy entry list for a series that has seen short fields for many races, six drivers did not make the show. Shane Sieg, Justin Hobgood, LW Miller, Derrike Cope, Brent Raymer and Wayne Edwards will have to watch the race from the sidelines.
