Jeff Gordon Tops 2008 TUMS Quikpak 500 Final Practice at Martinsville

MARTINSVILLE, Va. – In a reversal of fortune from the first practice today, Jeff Gordon moved to the top spot during Happy Hour practice with a time of 20.002 seconds. Jimmie Johnson was close on his heels with a 20.009-second lap. Clint Bowyer was third quickest running 20.069 seconds. Dale Earnhardt Jr. was next fastest at 20.104 and Jamie McMurray rounded out the top five, running a lap of 20.109 seconds.

The rest of the top 10 included Denny Hamlin sixth, Carl Edwards seventh, Juan Pablo Montoya eighth, Martin Truex Jr. ninth and AJ Allmendinger 10th.

The rest of the Chase contenders were scattered throughout the rundown with Kevin Harvick 11th, Tony Stewart 14th, Kyle Busch 24th, Matt Kenseth 26th, Greg Biffle 28th and Jeff Burton 31st.

Other notable drivers included David Ragan 15th in his backup car, Kasey Kahne 17th, Scott Speed 19th, Ryan Newman 32nd, Bill Elliott 35th and Michael Waltrip 41st. Joe Nemechek was 43rd-quickest once again in the final practice.
