Sam Mayer will drive the No. 1 Chevrolet for JR Motorsports in the O’Reilly Auto Parts Series in 2027, the team announced Sept. 22.
Starkey will sponsor the effort.
2027 marks Mayer’s return to the team after previously driving for JRM between 2021 and 2024.
“I am really happy to be back with JR Motorsports and back behind the wheel of the No. 1 Chevrolet,” Mayer said in a team release. “I’m really grateful to continue my career with the organization that gave me my start and thankful to Starkey for being an incredible partner and for their continued support in my racing career. There is still some racing left to do this year and I am focused on that, but I can’t wait to get the 2027 season underway at Daytona [International Speedway] with JRM.”
Mayer is currently in his sixth season in the series, having competed for Haas Factory Team the past two seasons. During his stint with JRM, he earned seven wins and one Championship 4 appearance.
Mayer currently sits fifth in points with six top fives and 13 top 10s.
