The Pit Straight: Post-Indy Motown Momentum

Less than a week removed from the Greatest Spectacle in Racing, it’s time to set up for the NTT IndyCar Series’ annual stop on the streets of Detroit.

Kyle Benjamin hosted Wyatt Watson, Christopher DeHarde, Tom Blackburn and Michael Finley on this week’s episode of “The Pit Straight” for a full review of the Indianapolis 500. The panel broke down the finish, including just how close Marcus Armstrong and Felix Rosenqvist were while battling side by side, and examined David Malukas’ standout performance as the best Penske-affiliated driver in the field — with the group noting that his first IndyCar win feels more like a matter of when than if.

The conversation also turned toward Detroit and the return of the Palou Show, as Alex Palou looks to keep his dominant season rolling on the streets. The crew also discussed Alexander Rossi’s mechanical failure and what it meant for his Indy 500 run, before closing with Will Power’s horrible, no-good season and how quickly things have unraveled for the Team Penske veteran.

“The Pit Straight” is Frontstretch‘s open-wheel racing podcast, available during the racing season before Formula 1 and IndyCar races on SpotifyApple PodcastsYouTube and right here on the web.
