This weekend, the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship will race in Downtown Detroit on the undercard of the NTT IndyCar Series. There will be 21 teams doing battle on the tricky street course.
In the GTP class, there are 11 teams entered. There are no driver changes from the last race at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca.
JDC-Miller MotorSports’ Laurin Heinrich currently has sole possession of the points lead by virtue of his victory at Laguna Seca. It was the first victory for a customer-run Porsche since the car debuted in 2023 and JDC-Miller MotorSports’ first overall victory since 2018.
Heinrich has a 21-point lead over Action Express Racing’s Jack Aitken. Porsche Penske Motorsport’s Julien Andlauer and Felipe Nasr are another 52 points back.
In GTD Pro, there are 10 teams entered, up one from Laguna Seca. The extra team on the entry list belongs to Vasser Sullivan.
Much like at Long Beach, when they ran two cars in GTD, they will run two in GTD Pro this weekend. Aaron Telitz, who normally drives the No. 12 Lexus in GTD alongside former IndyCar racer Benjamin Pedersen, will be in the No. 15 Lexus alongside Chaz Mostert.
Mostert, the defending Repco Supercars Championship champion in Australia, will be racing the Lexus for the first time. He has five career starts in WeatherTech with one class victory, the 2020 Rolex 24 at Daytona in what was then the GT Le Mans class.
This will be his second start of the season. Back in Daytona, he made a one-off appearance for 75 Express. He ended up second in GTD Pro in a Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo.
Currently, Corvette Racing by Pratt Miller Motorsports’ Nicky Catsburg and Tommy Milner have a 51-point lead over Paul Miller Racing’s Connor de Phillippi and Neil Verhagen. AO Racing’s Harry King and Nick Tandy are 63 points back in “Rexy,” who will be sporting a mouthguard this weekend.

The Chevrolet Detroit Sports Car Classic is scheduled to go green at 4:10 p.m. ET Saturday afternoon. Coverage will air live on NBC and Peacock starting at 4 p.m. ET.
