Stock Car Scoop: Joey Logano Has Jimmie Johnson’s Golden Horseshoe

For the fifth consecutive road course race, Shane van Gisbergen beat the field to the checkered flag by a considerable margin. That didn’t quell the drama surrounding the playoff cut line as Ross Chastain took Denny Hamlin out in a last-ditch attempt to fend off Joey Logano.

Caleb Barnes and Kevin Nix are here with this week’s rapid recap, reflecting first on two pit road mistakes from Chastain that really hurt his chances at advancing past Logano and into the next round.

With Chastain’s mistake, Logano held the advantage, but Paul Wolfe made the gutsy call to bring Logano to pit road to try and put the No. 22 on offense. Barnes and Nix react to the decision to pit and the final laps as Chastain tried to hang on while his lead slipped away.

To cap it off, Nix explains why, based on past years, Logano should be considered a serious threat to make the final four, and why the No. 22 could pick up the win next week at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

There is a lot to talk about, but just a little time to do so. Check out Stock Car Scoop on Apple Podcasts and Spotify, or wherever you get your podcasts!
