This week on Bringing the Heat with Trey Lyle, John Newby, senior writer at Savage Ventures, joins to discuss how he found his way into NASCAR journalism after starting in college football.
Newby reflects on some key moments in his career so far and shares some advice that he’s carried around and applies to his work.
After the interview, Caleb Barnes joins Lyle as the podcast shifts to the week’s big stories. The two discuss the decision by Denny Hamlin‘s No. 11 NASCAR Cup Series team to defer its post-Bristol Motor Speedway suspension to begin after the New Hampshire Motor Speedway race.
The extreme tire wear returning to Bristol is also a trending topic following last week’s race. Is it a promising sign, or does it just continue to highlight flaws with the car?
The soundbite of the week is Alex Bowman, who was eliminated in the Round of 16. Barnes and Lyle review whether or not the winless regular season and early elimination could cause the seat of the No. 48 to heat up.
