William Sawalich Wins ARCA West Pole at Portland

Ahead of his NASCAR Xfinity Series start at Portland International Raceway, William Sawalich scored the pole for the ARCA Menards Series West race there on Friday, Aug. 29.

Sawalich also posted the fastest time in the practice session earlier in the day.

It’s the second West series pole for Sawalich in 2025 and the sixth of his career. Sawalich also earned the pole award at fellow road course Sonoma Raceway this year en route to winning the race in overtime.

Starting second will be Thomas Annunziata. Annunziata won the ARCA Menards Series race at road course Lime Rock Park this year.

Alon Day will start third, followed by Fernando Navarette, making his series debut with Central Coast Racing, in fourth and Caleb Shrader in fifth.

Tanner Reif, Kyle Keller, Greg Biffle, Robbie Kennealy and Eric Johnson Jr. round out the top 10 in sixth through 10th, respectively.

Series points leader Trevor Huddleston did not post a lap during qualifying, so he will start 18th. He was one of four drivers who did not complete a qualifying lap, joined by Christian Eckes in 15th, Bobby Hillis Jr. in 16th and Dale Quarterley in 17th.

All 18 drivers will start the 57-lap race on Friday.
