Recently, the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series announced it will be racing in St. Petersburg in 2026, coinciding with the NTT IndyCar Series’ season opener.
The event created buzz on X, with Conor Daly hoping that Team Penske driver Scott McLaughlin would run in the Truck Series race that weekend.
โI 100% need to see @smclaughlin93 do the NASCAR truck @IndyCar doubleheader at St Pete next year,โ said Daly. โThat would be elite entertainment.โ
โIโm not saying no and Iโm not saying yes right now,โ McLaughlin said to Frontstretch in regards to a potential Truck Series start.ย
Mchalughin is a three-time V8 supercar champion with Penske and claimed the Bathurst 1000 in 2019.
McLaughlin has since moved into the IndyCar Series, where he has seven career wins and the Indy 500 pole award in 2024.
McLaughlin remains committed to IndyCar and no plans for a NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race at St. Petersburg have been announced at this time.
