Ryan Preece Claims Richmond Cup Pole

Ryan Preece earned his second career NASCAR Cup Series pole with a lap of 121.381 mph on Friday, Aug. 15 at Richmond Raceway.

Preece, who enters Richmond 34 points below the cut line, is looking to make the postseason for the first time in his career with RFK Racing. 

Tyler Reddick took the second spot in qualifying for 23XI Racing as he looks to clinch a playoff berth this weekend on points.

Row two consists of AJ Allmendinger starting third and Denny Hamlin starting in fourth. Chase Elliott qualified fifth to round out the top five. 

Brad Keselowski, Bubba Wallace, Christopher Bell, Alex Bowman and Michael McDowell qualified sixth through 10th, respectively. 

With 39 cars on the entry list, all drivers will race Saturday night in Richmond. 

Cup Richmond Lineup

The Cook Out 400 at Richmond Raceway will be live on Saturday (Aug. 16) with coverage beginning at 7:30 p.m. ET on USA Network.
