Update (9:21 p.m. ET): Connor Zilisch posted on X that he has left the hospital and has suffered a broken collarbone after his fall in victory lane after his win in the NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Watkins Glen International.
Zilisch’s status for tomorrow’s (Aug. 10) NASCAR Cup Series race at the track in which he’s entered has not been announced.
Original story: Connor Zilisch won Saturday’s (Aug. 9) NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Watkins Glen International for his sixth win of the year, and when he climbed out of his No. 88 car in victory lane to celebrate, he lost his footing and suffered a fall.
The CW went to commercial immediately after the incident and returned to report that Zilisch was speaking with medical personnel and was carted on a backboard to the track’s infield care center before ending its broadcast.
NBC Sport’s Dustin Long reported that Zilisch was able to sit up after being placed in an ambulance.
Since then, Zilisch has been transported to a local hospital for further evaluation.
He is scheduled to make a start tomorrow in the NASCAR Cup Series race at the track, driving Trackhouse Racing’s No. 87.
