Brent Crews Outshines Brenden Queen for ARCA Win at IRP

After a disappointing race at Dover, where Brent Crews was faster than Brenden Queen in practice but wrecked out while Queen cruised to a dominant win, Crews rebounded at Indianapolis Raceway Park and bested Queen for the victory in Friday’s (July 25) LiUNA! 150 presented by Dutch Boy. It marks his third ARCA win of the season, including one ARCA East victory and two in combination events with the ARCA Menards Series.

“I was exhausted out there,” Crews said in victory lane. “But this JGR group did an absolutely fabulous job at the break there. The 28 car was really good the first half and, honestly, I was doing everything I had to try to hang with him. I knew we had something. I knew Matt [Ross] and the crew had something up their sleeve to give me that extra little bit at the halfway break and that’s exactly what he did. This JBL Toyota Camry was lights out tonight and I’m grateful to be here and excited to go run the No. 1 truck tonight.”

A pivotal moment in the race came on a lap 23 restart when Crews drifted up the track and made contact with Queen. Both drivers managed to avoid disaster and regain control. The incident allowed Lawless Alan to briefly take the lead, but Queen quickly recovered and reclaimed the top spot.

With about 60 laps to go, Crews closed in on Queen and made several attempts to pass low. On lap 94, he finally completed the move, taking his first lead of the day and interrupting Queen’s dominant run.

After a late caution, it set up another important restart with 37 laps to go. Crews was able to hold off Queen again and maintain the lead. Queen was then passed by Alan and Isabella Robusto, eventually falling back to fifth. Although Queen gained some ground late, he settled for a third-place finish. Lavar Scott’s consistency continued with another top-five finish, placing fifth.

The top 10 was rounded out by Connor Mosack, Isaac Kitzmiller, Jason Kitzmiller, Hunter Wright and Thad Moffitt. Wright and Moffitt both had impressive runs, starting 26th and 34th, respectively, and battled their way to strong finishes. Isaac Kitzmiller’s seventh-place result keeps him ahead of Tyler Reif in the ARCA East points, as Reif finished 14th.

The battle between Crews and Queen is familiar territory. Crews earned his first ARCA Menards Series win this season after contact and a last-lap pass on Queen at Phoenix. This back-and-forth race at IRP only adds fuel to their growing rivalry.

Today’s race made headlines before it began. The field included Kadence Davenport, Isabella Robusto, Becca Monopoli, Quinn Davis, Lanie Buice, and Regina Sirvent. With six women in the lineup, the event tied a series record and marked a milestone in representation.

Robusto led the group with a strong fourth-place finish. Buice took 11th, though she appeared to have a top-five car early on. Her run was disrupted when a wreck unfolded in front of her, leading to contact with Mosack. The incident forced Buice to pit for a new tire and restart at the back of the field.
