This week on Bringing the Heat with Trey Lyle, Caleb Barnes fills in and is joined by Trenton Worsham, who caught up with Ty Dillon over the Dover Motor Speedway NASCAR weekend.
Dillon talks about his unconventional journey to his current NASCAR Cup Series ride with Kaulig Racing and how it’s changed his perspective on his season in life.
While he’s made waves in the In-Season Challenge, Dillon hopes to find more consistency and finish the season stronger than he started.
After the interview, Barnes and Worsham talk through the hottest topics this week, with the announcement of NASCAR going to San Diego taking the top spot in conversation. The two walk through their excitement levels for the 2026 race at Naval Base Coronado, and what we could potentially see from the new temporary venue.
Another hot topic continues to come from the ongoing lawsuit between 23XI Racing and Front Row Motorsports against NASCAR as reactions pour in following a mid-season rule change announced in a play to benefit the top open teams.
The soundbite of the week comes from Chase Briscoe, who shared his perspective of trying to go for the win at Dover while also attempting to race his teammate Denny Hamlin cleanly. Barnes and Worsham discuss if today’s top drivers in the Cup Series are beginning to bring a level of respect back to the front of the field.
For the final thoughts, Worsham offered his take on the continuing back-and-forth about the current points format following some controversial quotes made about a driver by other media members. Barnes wanted to note his disappointment in the recent NTT IndyCar Series rumors regarding Iowa Speedway just weeks after the series had a disappointing turnout at the track.
