Nolan Siegel Not Cleared To Drive Iowa Race 2

Nolan Siegel, driver of the Arrow McLaren No. 6 car will not compete in Sunday’s (July 13) Farm to Finish 275 Powered by Sukup.

After a crash during Saturday’s (July 12) Synk 275 on lap 248 in Turn 4, the American was subsequently not cleared by the INDYCAR medical Team to compete today. The team has therefore pulled the car from the field.

“The team has made the decision to not run the No. 6 NTT Data Arrow McClaren Chevrolet without its team driver in today’s race. Nolan will continue to be evaluated, and we will stay in close contact with the medical team as he recovers.”

Siegel had qualified eighth and fifth, respectively, for the Iowa doubleheader, and was running in the top 10 when the crash occurred. It had been a positive showing for what has been a tough year.

“There’s no place I’d rather be than out there driving today, especially from P5, one of my best starting positions of the season,” Siegel said in a statement. “I know I’m in good hands with the INDYCAR Medical Team and thank them for the great care they provide us drivers.”

“Most of all, I feel for the 6 crew. They gave me a rocket this weekend and put in a ton of work last night with hopes we’d be racing today. They deserve to be out there fighting for a podium, and we’ll be back soon to do just that.”

Siegel is currently 21st in the championship, with two top 10s on the season, with his best result an eighth at Road America.
