Greg Van Alst has moved back into team ownership, announcing his intent to start a NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series entry, Greg Van Alst Motorsports announced July 7.
The first race for the No. 35 will be at Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park later this month.
After IRP, Van Alst plans to run Bristol Motor Speedway, Talladega Superspeedway and Martinsville Speedway. The owner-driver will pilot the No. 35 in each of the races.
“This has been in the works for the last couple of months,” Van Alst said in a team release. “Starting a Truck Series program has been an eventual goal of mine for a long time, and to finally see it coming together — especially at a place like Lucas Oil Raceway, where I’ve turned so many laps — is incredibly special.
“We know there’s a lot of work ahead, but we’re committed to building something competitive and sustainable, and we’re excited to take this next step with Top Choice Fence, and hopefully, more partners join us along the way.”
In 2025, Van Alst has competed in eight NASCAR Xfinity Series races for Joey Gase Motorsports, with a best finish of 26th in the season opener at Daytona International Speedway. He has since scaled back his initial schedule.
Van Alst made five Truck starts in 2023, earning a best result of 26th at Talladega while driving for Young’s Motorsports.
Prior to 2025, he entered the part-time No. 35 in the ARCA Menards Series, earning a win at Daytona in 2023.
