NASCAR Standings After Chicago

Call Shane van Gisbergen the street sweeper, as he delivered in the Windy City yet again with a NASCAR Xfinity Series win on Saturday (July 5) and a Cup Series win on Sunday (July 6). He’s won four of the six races held in the streets of Chicago, with two wins apiece in each series.

Cup Standings After Chicago

Michael McDowell led the first 31 laps of the Grant Park 165, but a throttle issue took him behind the wall and out contention, allowing van Gisbergen to take the lead and control the rest of the race en route to his second win of 2025. Van Gisbergen is the fourth Cup driver this season to win multiple races, and he now stands alone as the winningest foreign-born Cup driver of all time.

William Byron completed just one lap after mechanical issues plagued his No. 24 car, and his early exit tightened the battle for the regular season points lead with seven races to go. The top three drivers in the NASCAR standings are separated by just 19 points, while the top five are separated by 48.
