Despite a strong effort from Oscar Piastri, the reigning F1 champion Max Verstappen didn’t break a sweat as he set a lightning pace of 1:24.892 in Q3 to take Pole Position and finished it off with his classic ‘simply lovely’ catchphrase as he parked his Red Bull ride in the pole position.
McLaren, the British favorite team, surely aimed to secure a 1-2 front row this weekend on home soil, but Verstappen was having none of it. The McLaren team will have to settle for second for Piastri and third for Lando Norris, who is coming off of a strong weekend in Austria, winning both the pole and the race, certainly putting some pressure on his teammate and championship leader Piastri with only 15 points apart from each other.
Q3
The weather was calm and clear for the last session, and so were the teams who took their time to find the right setup.
With less than a minute on the clock, everyone was on a fast lap, with Norris close to beating his teammate but missed out by just 0.015 and left Piastri on provisional pole.
But then came Verstappen; the reigning champion was flying through Silverstone with one purple sector after the next, pushing through the checkered flag in an incredible 1:24.892. Piastri and Norris were relegated to second and third, respectively.
George Russell secured himself a solid fourth position, giving him strong chances of making good points in the Sunday race. He was followed closely by the two Ferraris, with Lewis Hamilton in fifth and Charles Leclerc in sixth.
The rookies Kimi Antonelli and Oliver Bearman didn’t have it easy in a track that favors the experienced, still nailing a good seventh for Antonelli and eighth for Bearman. The last two positions of the top 10 went to Fernando Alonso in ninth and Pierre Gasly in 10th.

Q2
The track conditions appeared to be improving as the sun came out. The slower cars were out in new rubber while the top teams were on used tires to save the good ones for Q3, if they made it.
The checkered flag put the two Williams out with Carlos Sainz eliminated in 11th and Alex Albon in 14th. Yuki Tsunoda‘s new setup didn’t work out and he got eliminated in 12th, just ahead of Isaack Hadjar in 13th. Esteban Ocon, unlike his teammate, was pretty slow and had no chance of making it to Q3 and will start tomorrow (Sunday) in 15th position.

Q1
The qualifying started in Britain with all eyes on the sky as light rain started falling on the track despite radars not showing any showers. Despite being too early for the top teams who usually wait to let some rubber set on track, all of them rushed to put up a fast lap just to be on the safe side.
With conditions still changing throughout the session, Franco Colapinto spun and hit the wall at turn 18. The session was red flagged with 6:49 left on the clock as the track started to look glossy with all the drizzle falling over it.
The session resumed with comments from Norris saying “conditions might be worse” and there was not much time left to get used to it.
The clock ran out with two of the favorite rookies of the season eliminated in Q1, Liam Lawson in 16th and Gabriel Bortoletto on 17th. Lance Stroll in 18th was another surprise, considering that Aston Martin is faster after the updates and could’ve aimed for more.
Nico Hulkenberg wound up 19th and in the last position was the Argentine Colapinto, who was already out of contention following his spin mid-session.
