It was a warm welcome back for Denny Hamlin as he put up the quickest time in Saturday’s (June 21) NASCAR Cup Series qualifying session at Pocono Raceway.
The seven-time Pocono race winner scored his fifth pole position at the “Tricky Triangle” with a lap of 52.144 seconds around the three-turn, 2.5-mile track for his first pole of 2025.

For the second week in a row, an RFK Racing driver will start from the outside pole as Chris Buescher posted the second fastest time at a 52.227 second lap time.
Carson Hocevar, John Hunter Nemechek and Cole Custer rounded out the top five qualifiers, while Chase Briscoe, Ty Gibbs, Tyler Reddick, Christopher Bell and Daniel Suarez completed the top 10.
All 37 drivers entered this weekend will start, with no drivers failing to qualify for Sunday’s race.
It was an eventful qualifying session for the two fastest cars in Cup Series practice, as both William Byron and Bubba Wallace experienced setbacks in qualifying.
Wallace’s No. 23 Toyota suffered mechanical issues preventing him from attempting a lap, while Byron’s Hendrick Motorsports No. 24 spun in the tunnel turn and nosed into the inside wall.
