Dale Earnhardt Jr. will have a new role this weekend in NASCAR’s annual trip to Pocono Raceway.
The owner of JR Motorsports is filling in as crew chief of the No. 88 driven by Connor Zilisch in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, the team announced June 18.
Earnhardt replaces Mardy Lindley on top of the pit box at Pocono. Lindley is serving a suspension following a penalty from Nashville Superspeedway two weeks ago at which the No. 88 had loose lug nuts upon post-race inspection.
Zilisch enters this Pocono fifth in points with one win, four top fives and six top 10s.
