Connor Zilisch Hangs On for Xfinity Pole in Mexico City

One of the best NASCAR Xfinity Series drivers on road courses cointinued his dominance, as JR Motorsports’ Connor Zilisch won the pole position for Saturday’s (June 14) Xfinity race at Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez.

Zilisch’s No. 88 Chevrolet set the fastest lap with a speed of 94.314 mph around the 2.42 mile, 15 turn road course.

This is the fourth pole of the 2025 season for the rookie Zilisch, who outdueled Joe Gibbs Racing’s Ty Gibbs in the final minutes of qualifying for the No. 1 starting spot.

Cup Series star Christopher Bell, competing for Sam Hunt Racing, qualified third, followed by JR Motorsports teammates Carson Kvapil in fourth and Sammy Smith in fifth.

Sam Mayer was the fastest Ford in qualifying with the sixth quickest lap, followed by Austin Hill, Taylor Gray, Nick Sanchez and Jesse Love rounding out the top ten.

All 39 drivers entered for today’s race will compete, thanks to NASCAR adding two international provisionals to expand the field from 38 to 40 if necessary. Only one was used, and as such, no drivers failed to qualify.
