The NASCAR Xfinity Series took to the track for qualifying at Homestead-Miami Speedway on Friday (Oct. 20) evening, as the starting lineup was set for the Contender Boats 300.
Three of the last five cars to put in a lap set the fastest lap at the time, but in the end it was Cole Custer who laid down the fastest lap with an average speed of 165.604 mph after being the next-to-last car to set a time. This marks Custer’s sixth pole of the season with the series.
Brett Moffitt was the fastest non-playoff qualifier in sixth, followed by Riley Herbst and Josh Berry in seventh and eighth. Playoff driver Sheldon Creed clocked in ninth, while Parker Kligerman rounded out the top 10.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. qualified 23rd for his second and final Xfinity Series start of the season.
The Contender Boats 300 from Homestead is set to get underway this Saturday, Oct. 21, at 3 p.m. ET. Catch all the action live on USA Network, Motor Racing Network, and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.
