Hendrick Motorsports will field a NASCAR Xfinity Series car once again in 2023, the organization announced March 8.
Hendrickcars.com will be the primary sponsor on the No. 17 Chevrolet in four races.
The ride will make its season debut at Circuit of the Americas on March 25 with HMS NASCAR Cup Series driver William Byron behind the wheel.
Two of Byron’s teammates will also drive the car, with Kyle Larson driving at Sonoma Raceway on June 10 and at Darlington Raceway on Sept. 2. Alex Bowman will be in the seat at Watkins Glen International on Aug. 19.
Greg Ives and Kevin Meendering will split time as the crew chief for the races.
“Watching the No. 17 return to the track last year was very special,” team owner Rick Hendrick said in a team release. “It was fun being back in the Xfinity Series and seeing a great return from our HendrickCars.com sponsorship. The team had strong results on the track, but we didn’t quite get to victory lane. Having unfinished business gives us extra motivation this season.”
HMS competed in four NXS races last season, earning two poles and two runner-up finishes. It was its first appearance in the series since 2009.
