Riley Herbst will drive David Gilliland Racing’s No. 17 at the Daytona International Speedway road course in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series this weekend, DGR announced Feb. 16.
The race is currently a one-off in the series for DGR, the team confirmed to Frontstretch.
Team owner David Gilliland drove the No. 17 at Daytona last weekend, finishing 14th. Taylor Gray is also scheduled to run multiple events in the truck in 2021.
Herbst ran one Truck race in 2020 for Kyle Busch Motorsports. The start marks a return to DGR for Herbst, who drove the No. 54 at Bristol Motor Speedway in 2018, finishing 15th.
In eight starts, he has one top five and three top 10s, his best finish a third at Talladega Superspeedway in 2019.
Herbst is running his second full-time Xfinity Series season in 2021, this time for Stewart-Haas Racing, with whom he finished 26th at Daytona last weekend. In 2020, he ran the full schedule with Joe Gibbs Racing, scoring four top fives and 17 top 10s en route to a 12th-place finish in points.
