The GEICO gecko will be wandering around NASCAR races for at least the next two years.
Germain Racing and its No. 13 Cup Series Chevrolet has extended the partnership with its longtime sponsor through 2020. The Friday (Feb. 16) announcement comes five months after re-signing Ty Dillon to a multi-year deal.
“We have been honored to represent GEICO for the last decade,” team owner Bob Germain Jr. said in a release. “That is in and of itself a huge accomplishment, and we appreciate their belief in our organization. We are excited to continue improving our team’s performance. GEICO’s loyalty and support are the keys to any success we achieve.
“Carrying the GEICO name and the gecko on the hood of our racecar and on the chest of our uniforms is a source of pride. We are committed to representing them well.”
Dillon ran his first full Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series season last year with Germain Racing. The No. 13 team ended up 24th in the standings, also earning an average finish of 20.7.
The team did not say how many races GEICO will back in each of the next two seasons. However, GEICO backed 33 events for the team in 2017 and served as primary for the full 36-race season in 2016.
