Chase Elliott is spending plenty of time on the front row this weekend at Martinsville Speedway.
Starting second in Sunday’s STP 500 in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series, Elliott backed it up with a pole for the Alpha Energy Solutions 250 in the Camping World Truck Series.
Winning his third career Truck pole, the 21-year-old also grabs the top spot for the second straight time at Martinsville.
Lining up second is Johnny Sauter, who won the last time at the half-mile, followed by Timothy Peters and Matt Crafton.
The surprise of the session came in fifth spot with Ross Chastain wheeling his No. 66 Bolen Motorsports Chevrolet to a top-five starting spot.
Despite the strong result, you can’t say Chastain was surprised.
“This is a little team that can, now,” Chastain said. “Hopefully it is showing people — this is kind of our on-the-go resume for people. Jeff [Bolen, car owner] wanted me back after Atlanta to come and better it, so this is a good start, my best start ever here.”
In sixth is Christopher Bell with rookies Harrison Burton, Chase Briscoe, Noah Gragson and Grant Enfinger completing the top 10.
