Kevin Harvick Paces 1st 2015 Axalta We Paint Winners 400 Practice at Pocono

The first practice for Sunday’s Axalta We Paint Winners 400 at Pocono Raceway is complete. Kevin Harvick, who has yet to win a Sprint Cup race at the Tricky Triangle, topped the chart in his Budweiser/Jimmy John’s Chevrolet with a speed of 176.932 mph. He was followed by Kyle Busch, Carl Edwards, Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Austin Dillon.

Trevor Bayne ran 21 laps in his AdvoCare Ford, the most of any competitor, but recorded only the 35th quickest time. No driver recorded 10 consecutive laps.

The session was not without incident as Sam Hornish Jr. spun in turn 3 but was able to continue. Tony Stewart was not as lucky. After getting loose in turn 2, his No. 14 Chevrolet spun and made contact with the inside wall. The damage to the nose was significant enough to send the team to backup car.

Friday’s practice session was held under partly cloudy conditions with a temperature in the low 70s, very close to what is forecasted for Sunday’s race.
