Welcome to Off the Wall With…, where we ask your favorite drivers five questions that are… well, off the wall! We’ll check in with a different driver each week to get a peek into life outside the racecar. This week, we put 2012 NHRA Funny Car champ Fast Jack Beckman in the hot seat.
What’s fun besides racing?
Beckman: Surfing!
What’s the top item on your bucket list?
Beckman: Skydiving. My wife won’t let me. She’ll let me get in a 320-mph dragster with parachutes. She won’t let me get in an airplane with a parachute.
Your go-to on movie night is:
Beckman: Any movie. I’m an action movie, sci-fi (person). When I’m at the races, if I can knock out three movies in a weekend, I’m all over that. My go to is popcorn. That’s what my go to is on movie night!
What’s one item that’s always in your grocery bag?
Beckman: Bananas.
Most memorable fan interaction?
Beckman: Jacob Delling. He’s now 11 years old, blind since he was four. I met him when he was nine and we’ve become friends. He hangs out once a year with us at the races. He’ll get in our tow vehicle and it’s just been incredibly motivating and inspiring.
