Denny Hamlin Pairs with NBCSN to Televise Short Track Showdown

The Denny Hamlin Short Track Showdown is going to reach a few more eyes.

NBC Sports announced earlier today (April 20) that they will televise the eighth annual edition of Hamlin’s late model charity race on NBCSN in May.

The race, held to support the Denny Hamlin Foundation, will be ran on April 23 at South Boston (Va.) Speedway. The field for the race will consist of late model regulars well as NASCAR stars such as Chase Elliott, David Ragan, Jeb Burton and Timothy Peters. NASCAR Hall of Famer Bill Elliott will serve as the race’s grand marshal.

“I’ve gotten to know the NBC Sports team over the years, and they are very passionate about motorsports,” said Hamlin in a release. “This is a great opportunity to showcase awesome, local short track racing on a national media platform.”

The news comes less than 24 hours after Hamlin was forced to sit out of a rain-delayed Sprint Cup race at Bristol Motor Speedway. Hamlin should return to his No. 11 Fedex Toyota this weekend at Richmond Int’l Raceway, his home track.
