The A-Main: 2021 Dairyland Showdown Chris Madden was a late addition to the roster of World of Outlaws Late Model regulars this season, but he’s here to contend if the Dairyland Showdown was any indication. Madden led the majority of the $22,500-to-win Saturday night feature at Mississippi Thunder Speedway in Wisconsin, keeping a resurgent Brandon …

Racing to the Point: Aric Almirola Adds Another Asterisk

Every sport has its share of asterisks. There are always going to be games, races and matches that don’t end to our satisfaction, records that are cheaply broken and even legacies that are called into question. Baseball deals with the term more than any other sport. Alex Rodriguez could actually trademark the asterisk at this …

The Big 6: Questions Answered After the 2012 Coke Zero 400 at Daytona

Even with the big wrecks towards the end of the race Saturday night, one of the scariest incidents was on pit road during the first caution of the race. Ryan Newman pulled out of his pit stall and managed to get sideswiped by Jeff Gordon. This caused Newman to slide into Kasey Kahne. The secondary contact spun Newman into the stationary car of Keselowski.

The Big 6: Questions Answered After the 2012 STP 400 at Kansas

It will be one of the biggest surprises of 2012 if AJ Allmendinger doesn’t win a race in his new Penske Racing ride. Early on, it looked like this could be the week for the Los Gatos, Calif., native as Allmendinger beat the field in qualifying to take the pole for the STP 400, and led handily in the early going. But an engine problem reared its ugly head at Allmendinger’s team as the race approached the 100-lap mark. Allmendinger would stay on track after a lengthy pit stop to address the issue, but it cost four laps and relegated Allmendinger to a finish of just 32nd after starting at the front.

Fan’s View: A Conflicted Fan the Result of Cheering for Too Many NASCAR Drivers

As a fan, baseball is a simple game. I cheer for the Red Sox. That’s it. I don’t play fantasy leagues, think that maybe Baltimore is looking pretty good this year or St. Louis recruited an awesome rookie so I’ll send some happy thoughts that way. It’s my team or nothing. I am not so …

Matt McLaughlin’s Thinkin’ Out Loud: 2012 Martinsville Spring Race Recap

On the first green-white-checkered restart, Jeff Gordon and Jimmie Johnson led the field to the green, both on worn tires as competitors behind them on fresh ones licked their chops. Clint Bowyer, propelled by a solid shot to his rear bumper from Ryan Newman, took the Hendrick duo three-wide towards the first turn and it didn’t work out too well for any of the three of them. Meanwhile, Newman snaked his way into the lead and, ultimately, the win.

The Big 6: Questions Answered After the 2012 Goody’s Fast Relief 500 at Martinsville

If there is one word that describes Kasey Kahne’s season to date, it would be snakebit. After waiting an entire year to take over his dream ride, Kahne has a season-best 14th place at Fontana to show for it. This week would be no different for Kahne, who won his second pole of the year, but was forced to watch the end of the race from the infield after his engine detonated on lap 316. Kahne finished a dismal 38th, the worst among all drivers planning to run the full event. The finish drops Kahne to 31st in driver points and the No. 5 to 32nd in owner points.
