Team Penske has announced the departures of multiple top officials from its NTT IndyCar Series team, including President Tim Cindric, it revealed in a May 21 statement.
In addition to the departure of Cindric, managing director Ron Ruzewski and general manager Kyle Moyer are also gone.
The moves signal a sign of changes in the organization ahead of this weekend’s Indianapolis 500. Two of Penske’s three IndyCar teams were penalized during qualifying last weekend.
Josef Newgarden and Will Power‘s entries will start at the rear of the field this weekend after both cars received technical violation penalties for modified attenuators.
[rp4wp limit=1 offset=0]“Nothing is more important than the integrity of our sport and our race teams,” team owner Roger Penske stated in a release. “We have had organizational failures during the last two years, and we had to make necessary changes. I apologize to our fans, our partners and our organization for letting them down.”
According to a statement from the organization, announcements related to personnel and replacements for this weekend’s Indianapolis 500 will be shared later this week.
Penske is looking for its third consecutive victory in the Indy 500 this weekend, having won the last two seasons with Newgarden.
