Corey Day won the pole Friday (March 14) for the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Ecosave 200 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway with a lap of 177.702 mph. It is his first career NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series pole in his fifth career Truck Series start.
Day signed a deal to become a Hendrick Motorsports development driver in the offseason. This is the first race in an eight-race deal with Spire Motorsports for this season.
McAnally-Hilgemann Racing’s Tyler Ankrum will start alongside Day in what is his best start of the early season. The second row consists of ThorSport Racing’s Jake Garcia and Day’s Spire Motorsports teammate Justin Haley. Stewart Friesen completes the top-five.
Rajah Caruth, Ty Majeski, Gio Ruggiero, Dawson Sutton and Connor Mosack qualify sixth through 10th, respectively.
Nathan Byrd was the only driver who didn’t make a lap in qualifying lap and all 31 entries will race Friday night in Las Vegas. There was a 32nd team originally entered, the Carroll Racing Toyota for Justin Carroll. That team withdrew prior to the start of the race weekend.
