Three weeks of points racing are now in the NASCAR Cup Series books, and this week’s episode of Bringing the Heat is hosted by Trey Lyle, who fills in for birthday boy Bryan Nolen.
Nolen, however, was not completely off the clock this week. He had the chanceover the weekend at Circuit of the Americas to sit down with former NASCAR Xfinity Series champion and yet-again NASCAR Cup Series driver Cole Custer.
The two discuss Custer’s return back to the Cup Series, running with an old-but-new organization in Haas Factory Team, as well as the adventures of Custer’s new journey as a father.
What’s still hot? Frontstretch’s Tom Bowles joins the program to talk about a bunch of news that has dropped in the NASCAR realm in recent days. Topics include NASCAR’s counterclaim against 23XI Racing and Front Row Motorsports, Chase Briscoe and Joe Gibbs Racing winning their appeal and restoring points back from Daytona International Speedway, and Austin Cindric being slapped with a $50,000 fine and loss of 50 points after his incident with Ty Dillon last weekend at COTA.
The soundbite of the week once again comes from Kyle Busch, who had another impressive showing at COTA. The Richard Childress Racing driver led late in the going before giving way to Christopher Bell. Busch discusses how if a few things could’ve played out differently he could have captured his first checkered flag of 2025.
The show wraps up with a look at the accessibility of the sport.
