Gianmaria Bruni Joins JDC-Miller MotorSports for 2025

JDC-Miller MotorSports announced late Monday night (Jan. 6) that Gianmaria Bruni will move over to the Minnesota-based Porsche team to race their Porsche 963 full-time in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship in 2025. He’ll race for the GTP championship alongside the returning Tijmen van der Helm.

“I am very happy to be joining JDC-Miller MotorSports for the 2025 IMSA WeatherTech Championship season,” Bruni said in a press release. “I spent a few days with the team at the Daytona tests in November, and I can’t wait to work with them throughout the entire IMSA championship. I am very motivated and expect to see great results. I am looking forward to working with my new teammates at Daytona and through the entire WeatherTech season.”

Bruni is replacing Richard Westbrook, who announced his retirement from full-time racing back in October.

As noted, Bruni tested with JDC-Miller MotorSports during an open test session at Daytona International Speedway back in December. He shared the car with van der Helm and Indy NXT by Firestone racer Bryce Aron. They will be joined for Daytona by defending ABB FIA Formula E world champion Pascal Wehrlein.

Bruni has spent the past two years racing for Proton Competition in the GTP class. Last season, he finished ninth in GTP points with a best finish of fifth on four separate occasions (Daytona, Long Beach, Road America and Indianapolis). Bruni had six different teammates in 2024 (Julien Andlauer, Romain Dumas, Neel Jani, Alessio Picariello, Mike Rockenfeller and Bent Viscaal).

Combined between WeatherTech, Grand-Am and the American Le Mans Series, Bruni has 47 career starts dating back to 2007. He has four career victories, but none of which have come in the top class. His only win in WeatherTech came in the 2023 Rolex 24 at Daytona, when he was part of the Proton Competition team that won the LMP2 class in a photo-finish. Teammate James Allen did the honors there.0

JDC-Miller MotorSports with van der Helm and Westbrook finished 10th in GTP points in 2024 with a best finish of third at Indianapolis. They’ll be looking to improve on that performance this year.
