Harrison Burton will remain in the NASCAR Cup Series with Wood Brothers Racing in 2024. Burton confirmed the news on Saturday (Sept. 30) afternoon at Talladega Superspeedway.
Burton is currently in his sophomore season with the iconic Wood Brothers team. The No. 21 team currently sits 31st in Cup points.
“At the end of the day, it’s fairly easy for me because I am happy where I’m at, and I hope to continue to race where I’m at,” Burton said. “It’s fairly easy for me to kind of just go to work with the guys that I’ve worked with for the last year and a half or so, and yeah, it’s not super distracting at this point.”
Burton has two top-10 finishes on the season with his best result coming at Darlington in May. His career-best finish of third occurred at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Road Course in 2022.
For 2024, Burton will stick with his new crew chief Jeremy Bullins, who moved from the No. 2 team this year. The duo will continue chasing after win number 100 for the Wood Brothers next season.

Money trumps talent again!
No kidding, ridiculous that he’s even in cup, let alone in a Penske car.
I’d agree that it’s about money, but I don’t think Burton brings any sponsorship with him. Motorcraft/Quicklane and Ford have sponsored the Wood Brothers since the beginning of time, and Penske has close ties with Menard’s.
Harrison Burton brought the Dex Imaging sponsorship from his former Xfinity ride to the Wood Brothers Cup team back last season. Dex upped their spend to be the primary on the #21 for most of last year’s and most of this year’s races. Motorcraft/Quicklane functions mostly as an occasional primary, but is largely an associate sponsor for the team.

I expect that his being in the 21 in the first place was orchestrated by Penski, rather that the Woods.
But I believe if they’d stuck with Matty D, that they’d have # 100 by now.
